A life of piety

A nun at the hundred year old palace/hostel I was staying at on Peddar Road in Mumbai.

They live their lives in constant devotion of the poor, helpless and downtrodden. They have no family or property to call their own. One of the nuns recounted stories of  having heard God’s call that put her on this path at a young age. They are never posted at the same church or institution permanently. They are constantly ferried all over the country and even outside so that they never have any attachments even to the place that they live in. They have simple meals and wear simple clothes provided to them by the church. Their day is made up of prayer, supervising the hostel, reading and social services.
A life truly lived for others.
